The “Europees Luchtwegonderzoek Nederland III short questionnaire” (ELON III) is the Dutch version of the ECRHS short postal survey.
The short survey, together with the long version, has been used since 1991 as the standard questionnaire for epidemiological studies on respiratory health.

The 16-item questionnaire has 4 goals:

1. collect basic health information regarding respiratory status from the cohort.
2. collect basic information regarding smoking status from the cohort
3. confirm length of time each person has lived at their current address
4. assess who is taking inhaled steroids or other medication related to respiratory diseases
