Visit 1 of General Assessment 1A (Baseline)
All Lifelines participants of 8 years and older participating in general assessment 1A (“Baseline”) visited a location of their choice. A trained physician's assistant would perform all measurements, according to the Standard Operating Procedure described below.
NB: For the most part of 1A, the Pulmonary function test and Ruff Figural Fluency Test were performed in alternate weeks so that participants underwent only one of these two tests.
NNB: In case of temporary counter indications or technical/logistic problems, tests could be rescheduled for 1A Visit 2.
SOP (in brief) for Visit 1 of adult participants
- Total duration: 70 minutes
- Retrieve the participant from the waiting room
- Check informed Consent and basic personal information
- Take in 1A Questionnaire 1 and check for completeness (also during blood pressure measurement)
- If participant is 65+ years old: perform MMSE
- Check if all instruments are ready for use
- Perform the following measurements in order according to their respective SOP’s:
- Possible changes in the order:
- Blood pressure and ECG may be swapped
- Pulmonary function test may be done after the MINI
SOP for Visit 1 (Children 8+)
- Total duration: 60 min (plus 30-45 minutes for on-site 1A Youth Questionnaire)
- Research assistants (= nurse practitioners) received the participants in a child-friendly manner
- Informed Consent must have been checked prior to the visit
- Basic personal information was checked
- 1A Birth Questionnaire and 1A General Questionnaire were taken in (if not sent by mail, lost, or forgotten)
- 1A Behavior Questionnaire and 1A Food Questionnaire were handed out to parents
- All instruments were checked if ready for use
- The following measurements were done in order according to their respective SOP’s:
- ECG (13+ years old)
- In case of temporary counter indications of the participant or technical/logistic problems, the tests could be rescheduled for 1A Visit 2
- Children of 13 years and older filled in a digital 1A Youth Questionnaire on site.
Relation to other elements
1A Visit 1 was accompanied by 1A Questionnaire 1 which was filled in, on average, within xx days (+/- yy days) prior to visit 1.
1A Visit 1 was followed by 1A Visit 2 within, on average, 40 days.
1A Visit 1 is procedurally equivalent to 2A Visit 1 and 3A Visit 1. The average time between 1A Visit 1 and 2A Visit 1 was 3 years and 11 months.
